The Enrok team is marking nine-year’s in business this month.
Where did those 3,285 days go? There have been some incredible moments along the way and much to celebrate. As you would expect, there has been a few hairy moments too – but we’ve come through them.
We’re super proud of what we’ve achieved. We’re especially grateful that work with some truly amazing clients and suppliers – so thank you for putting your trust in us. We’re expanding the business and recruiting for a mix of team roles; we’re building new relationships and nurturing those with the people we already work with.
So what have we learned?
Well, if we were to pick three top things, the first would be surrounding ourselves with the right people – oh my goodness, this makes a world of difference. Another is having the right mindset and fine-tuning it from time to time. This has been super-critical to our success – it’s a magical ingredient. The third is creating a work-life balance. This might sound like a cliché, but it’s so true! We’ve all heard the old proverb about Jack being a dull boy when deprived from his playtime!
When we look back at the last 12-months, I don’t think any of us are going to forget the rollercoaster year of 2020 – the longest year imaginable. But reflecting on what we just said about mindset, we used last year to our advantage and made some very clear-cut changes. The first thing we did, was rebrand. This was a significant and focused change for us, and we went into it wholeheartedly. We wanted a brand that would reflect who we are as a business, as well as the team within it – one that fits with us like a hand and a glove. This has been a gigantic success.
Along with our rebrand we embraced marketing like we’ve never done before. Two key words here – momentum and consistency. And you know what – this has paid off too. We went on to win this year’s marketing award with our business Coach, Jas Darar. That was quite an emotional moment for us. Some people see marketing as a cost, but we see it as an investment which has put us firmly on the map. Good marketing works. No question.
This snowball effect has raised our profile in the industry – and we’ve gone on to win new projects too. Two in particular that we’ve worked really hard to get over the line is the Pavilion in Ashbourne and the Medical Centre in Nuneaton. Finally dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s was a big moment. We’ve had a lot of enquiries this past few months, more than we’ve ever had, which is fantastic. Over the next twelve months, we’re going to be building on what we’ve already achieved. Our approach is working well for our clients – and that’s important to us.
Someone asked us recently – knowing what you know now, which snippet of advice would you give to yourself the day you started out in business? Mmmm… be yourself and embrace it – don’t be afraid. Interestingly, Oscar Wilde once said a similar thing. Be yourself; everyone else is already taken. We like Oscar.
So here’s to the next 9-years. By then we’ll have a pretty good idea if our two boys are showing an interest in getting involved with team Enrok. We really hope so – that would definitely be another nine-year landmark worth celebrating.
