Following a successful start to 2022, we are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Charlie O’Grady.
Charlie joined Enrok Construction in May 2022 and will be working for us whilst completing his degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management at Wolverhampton University.
True to our ethos of developing talent from within, we are proud to be supporting Charlie’s education. Enrok is sponsoring his university tuition and enabling him to gain real world experience of the construction industry. This will be invaluable when it comes to submit his coursework and sit his exams.
Charlotte Holyhead, Commercial Manager at Enrok comments: “Gaining a professional, RICS-certified qualification is a common route into Quantity Surveying and lays a good foundation for a role in the industry. As this is the route that Charlie has chosen to take, Enrok will support anything he needs to benefit as much as possible from the course – whether it’s time during the week to attend lectures, sponsorship for fees, study days, additional time on site to broaden experience, or guidance from any of our experienced management team.”
For Charlie, a career in construction has always been of interest. Inspired by his father who is a building surveyor in the industry and his friend who works with Redrow homes, Charlie is making excellent progress at University and we are delighted that he has joined Enrok. We are sure he will be a future talent!
Commenting on joining Enrok, Charlie said: “This is a huge opportunity for me, and I am excited about the future with Enrok. The company’s vision and family ethos is important to me and I have already got my boots on, getting out and about on site in London! Laura, Jordan and the Enrok team have been hugely supportive and I am looking forward to developing my career within an ambitious business.”
As Assistant Quantity Surveyor Charlie will work within the commercial team, getting involved in procurement of subcontractors, attending design team and site meetings, managing subcontractor accounts, reporting variations and working on measurements and costs estimates for upcoming projects and tenders.
Charlotte continues: “Charlie has impressed us from the outset with his eagerness to learn and passion for all things construction. You can tell it’s in his blood! He is very professional and happy to take on responsibilities and new challenges. He really enjoys mixing time on site with time behind the screen, crunching numbers, which we are sure will stand him in good stead for a career within the construction industry.
“At Enrok we expect our project teams to have an in-depth knowledge of their projects and question every decision to ensure we find best value and provide an excellent service to the client. Charlie is not afraid to get involved and has already made an impression.”
As with all staff, as part of its ongoing commitment to learning and development, Enrok will continue to support Charlie with any training that he or the commercial team feel will enhance his skills and knowledge.
