Roof tiles: Despite having our allocation for roof tiles booked months in advance, the manufacturer kept pushing the date back and, in the end, we had to find an alternate source. After working closely with the planning consultants, we managed to get a clay alternative to the concrete originally agreed – which the planners were more than happy with. This allowed us to continue on site, and even gave the client a higher quality product for the same price.
Site security: The site was in a previously derelict location which attracted some unwanted attention from kids and vandals. To counter our not-so-welcome guests, we installed high-quality, monitored CCTV with intruder alert systems to keep the site safe right through to post-construction. Our security measures were installed at no extra cost to the client, and we gave them access to the CCTV so they could check site progress. A win-win.
